Tortured Mind

Mental health awareness is brought up so often. Bright cheerful poster of people smiling at one another in a generic office setting. Illustrated butterflies lifting just like your spirits because some stranger said you’re ok, it’s just in your head. But people not struggling with mental health don’t really understand what’s going on in there. They don’t experience the torment. The tortured thoughts. The pain and anguish of not being safe, even in your own head. With medication or therapy or a combination, sometimes the tools of torment get set down. Hell maybe the room gets vacated for a while. But it’s never fully condemned. It’s always so easy to return compared to the difficulty of getting out.
